New celebrity death pool?

I take you back six months to when I posted my picks for my own celebrity death pool, after Thom told me about the morbid pool he had at work with co-workers.

http://smithground.blogspot.com/2009/06/celebrity-death-pool.html

Well, none of my picks came through, but I'm willing to try again for 2010. Anyone else in with me? Maybe you can enlighten us with some of the rules, Thom. How many picks do we make?

It's simple: Those competing in the death pool pick ten celebrities. At the end of the year, whoever accurately picked the most celebrities to die wins the pot, which contains the money to enter from every participant. We usually went with $5 per person, but if it's less people competing, we could go with a higher amount. Who wants in?

I'm not familiar enough with the various celebrities in states of decay to participate, I don't think.

You don't have to be. Michael Jackson just died! And so did some young woman who did some voice in King of the Hill. It could be anyone!

I'm in. $5 is pretty cheap.

I'll have to come up with my list soon.

After some extensive research and thought, here is my list:

Wilford Brimley
John Madden
Joan Rivers
Phyllis Diller
Jimmy Carter
George Martin
Nelson Mandela
Nancy Reagan
Kim Jong-il
Dick Clark

I'm going with some of the ones I listed last year cause I still think they're safe bets, but I didn't want to do all the same ones. It got me to thinking about what a celebrity is, though. Like can Queen Elizabeth II be considered a celebrity? I think so. I looked up "celebrity" on dictionary.com and it basically just said any person that's famous. So argue with me if you like, but I think it's fair.

Elizabeth Taylor
Fidel Castro
Ariel Sharon

I can tell you did some research (and wishful thinking) as well!

... okay, off topic, but I could have sworn half the people on your lists were already dead. Jeeze, goes to show how on top of things I am.

Yeah, Dick Cheney was probably the biggest wishful thinking choice.

And Mike, I can understand you thinking that - Fidel Castro has been out of the spotlight, Ariel Sharon is still in a vegetative state, etc.

I think John Madden will kick the bucket, right in mid-broadcast. "Yebjek.. FOOTBALLL...WWEFeee...*URK*." Then we'll all feel bad for making so much fun of him.

HAHAHAHAHA

But seriously, make a list, John. You know you want to be a part of this.
